Porto Cesareo in Salento, Puglia
Porto Cesareo is known specially for its 17 km of golden beaches. Its seabed boasts a biodiversity and a unique beauty. Not surprisingly, it’s protected in a Safeguarded Marine Area, which includes also the wonderful Isle of Rabbits, one of the most charming place of Salento peninsula. Thanks to the purity of the water, the flora and fauna of these seas may count many species typical of hot seas and even tropical.
Along the coasts of Porto Cesareo you can admire many watchtowers well preserved which certainly merit a visit: Torre Cesarea, Torre Chianca and Torre Lapillo. These towers represent the memory of an historical period when the people had to deal daily with the menace of the Saracens raids.
